Tripple tree bolt advice

I ordered a upper clamp for my 74 xs650 and when i took off the old top clamp i noticed this,

am i missing another one of those cog nuts? I thought there was suppost to be 2? And the lock washer with the tabs?

Yes. Best thing is to just get a second one. Somebody in Knoxville would have one. Junkyard or dealer or garage. Take the one you have with you. They tighten against each other so they won't move. Needs a special wrench, actually two of them, one to hold the lower and one to tighten the upper against it.

Yes, you are missing one of the special nuts. They were used on a ton of different Yamaha models so scrounging one shouldn't be hard. They're also still available new if all else fails .....

For the special wrenches needed, get yourself a couple of these. They're cheap, fit, and work well .....
