hey guys, gonna start off by saying i know a lot of people don't like mikes xs stuff, but i recently purchased some valve guides from there just because i had to order some other stuff as well and it didn't say that it was "xsperformance" brand so i assumed it was just OEM parts. well i get them and turns out they aren't and there is a little notch on these guides for what would appear an oring would go on...but the issue is, the oring on my original guide is way too loose for the slotted out area. so my question is has anybody used these guides? and if so was there really much of a difference between these and another brand? and also what kind of oring should i get for it???. I'm just trying to avoid spending another 120$ on guides.

That's a good one. I see the MikesXS guides pictures show that groove. I recall that many Honda guides had a groove for the oring like that, and the oring fit snugly in there. If I remember right, the xs650 head's guide holes are chamfered to receive the orings. If so, I'd think that you're ok to use the stock orings as-is, "4pc. Valve - Guide O-Ring 1.5 x 14.5 # 93210-15151".

Best to let others jump in here, as I'm not completely sure on this.

Another important concern is the interference fit of guide to head. These threads go into that:
