The best carbs for these really depends on what it is that you are wanting to do. For just an everyday reliable bike the OEM carbs are very forgiving and have been run and tuned for many years with great success. If you are looking for something else there are always the VM's, lectrons etc. that are very popular. Also some of us who are just glutens for punishment go yet another route and mix and match OEM manufacturers, I myself have Kehein CVK34's from a Kaw EX500 which have turned out to work very well for a relatively low price. It all depends what you are wanting to do. One bit of advice though is get to a point that you can clean and tune the OEM BS carbs before you go to something else as the aftermaket carbs will be more time consuming and tedious to tune than the carbs that came on these bikes.
