What cable/line/hose is this to?

I got the bike from my dad it is a 72 xs650. He is no longer around so I cannot ask what it is. My mom said it was a brake line but she isn't exactly sure. The attached photos are what this mystery cable/line/hose is. I believe it is from the front of the bike. it is somewhat flexible and on one side is a hole and on the other is a cable looking thing. I wish I could describe more about it but that's the best I can do. Any possible answers would be Greatly appreciated. thanks guys

Looks like a speedo or tach cable.

I agree, tach or speedo cable.
Tach one end hooks to front right corner of the engine, front of the right side engine cover. Other end into back side of tach.
Speedo, one end to left side of the front wheel hub. Other to speedo.
Leo
