I’m curious about the never again part. Too slow? Too far? Didn’t enjoy the backroads?
wELL, AFTER RESTING FOR , (DAMN capslock), almost 2 days, looking back, I will say that the back roads were OK. Unfortunately, I didn't stop to take pictures. If I did it would have taken 12 hours instead of 9.
I did see an F16 in front of a park or business, on a pedestal, like a Revell Model. That was cool! I figured I'd stop on the way back and snap a few, but after waiting for a train in Columbia, SC, that seemingly extended ,"TO INFINITY AND BEYOND," then it stopped.
Then wormed thru town in an attempt to get around it. When I did finally get on a 55mph road with lights, I hit construction that stopped me for 15 minutes or so.
But that was kind of OK, because I was next to a local on a bike, wearing a GT and no helmet. There I am, in my early morning sweat shirt, riding jacket, gloves and full helmet. It's weird seeing riders with no helmets. Those guys have got to be deaf from the wind noise!
Concentrating on making up time and not speeding and watching for people that might pull out in front of me, I missed the F16. Oh well. I'm still alive!
