What is this part under battery box? Rectifier?

I'm assuming this is the rectifier. Just seems kind of cheap. Am I correct?

If so I was just going to replace it with this diy version

Reassembling my '78 standard. Ditching the flashing relay, reserve lighting unit, starter selenoid, safety relay. Basically just keeping the voltage regulator. Just making sure I'm not ditching anything vital.
 
Yep, looks like a very old, worn out rectifier. Time to replace.
 
I went the self made rectifier route and it works great. I made two just incase I need to swap it out incase of breakdown

In the last pic of the bridge rectifiers you can see the nut hard up to the plate. The nut acts as a spacer if you want to mount the rec back under the battery box Just make sure the thread isn't so long that it hits the bottom of the battery.
