Does anyone know if there is a difference in the motors of the b and the se models? I'm specifically concerned with exhaust ports on a '79. Are they the same sizes?

Thanks for any thoughts you can provide.

TX74A -79SF/F was the same engine, Head/Ports all the same,. Points Ignition
BS38 Cabs that varied every 2 years. Basically, jets and placements, but any carb set will swap into the factory air-boxes 74-79

These engines will have US-447 and 2F0 Prefix's.

Note: 80SG 2F0 - 2000101 up to 250000 Is excluded Because the engine had no points rod. Factory Electronic ignition.
The points rod can be changed into this head but beware.........The Rod holes, in the 80 and later heads, weren't machined for the rod

Awesome. Thank you for the great reply.

I take it then, that any aftermarket exhaust that is specifically denoted as to belong to the 'b' or the 'se' would be different only in its accommodation of body parts. ...?

78/79Specials had different headers and Mufflers, one unit, and the header mounting bolt is slightly different to the Standard frame placement. Standard muffler had a bracket that incorporated the rear foot peg. The special had a separate mounting bracket
