Wheel/axle question

I have a 80 special frame with the 16" rear rim, I want to put an older '75? 17" rear rim on the back. Will the axle bolt/collar/hardware that works with the 16" rim also work with the 17? I guess are they the same width at the hub?

Drum to drum, yes, all spacers are the same. Disc to drum, no, you need the drum spacer on the right. The caliper mount acts as the spacer on the disc wheel. Axle is the same for all. And the older wheels are 18", not 17".
