I have a new flasher relay ready to install on a 1975 XS650. Not as lazy as I seem. Just trying to squeeze this in between 100 other projects.

Is the dead flasher relay somewhere under the seat maybe on the frame somewhere, or inside the headlight shell with all the spaghetti?

Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction!

Thanks Maurice. That's exactly where I found it. And I wish I'd checked there first. The part Mike's sells for my 1975 is wrong. So I'm out the price and the shipping. http://www.mikesxs.net/product/10-1172.html

I'll ask them to reimburse. Not sure what their policy is. But they advertize and sell the wrong part, so I hope they will step up.

The right part (direct replacement) cost me $5.50 at Baxter's. Lesson learned.

Go to the auto parts store and get a model 552 electronic flasher. No auto-cancel, but it works off a timer, not resistance and flashes reliably. It's a 2 prong, so it can only go on 2 ways. One is right, one is wrong, but putting it on wrong won't hurt it. Just plug it in. If it works, you're done, if it don't , try the other way and that should finish it.
