Where to begin??

I have seen a couple of places where people have asked for help on specific help with tune-ups/rebuilds, but I was curious if I could get a nice list of where to start with my new bike? I have a '77 xs650 that I picked up last week, and I want to go over everything to make sure it is all up to par. I just don't know what order to go through the bike. Any help would be awesome, and maybe there is a post somewhere that someone could direct me towards. thanks in advance for any help, and sorry if this is an old question.

Look up at the top of this pagevwhere it says "Tech". Its about the best place you're going to find information for where to start on a new to you bike.
