new to the forum, building our first 650 hardtail, what do you guys suggest for carb as the stock ones are junk, what size, make, running 1 inch handlebars with harley syle throttle control, what about cables???
thanks

the stock carbs on them can be tuned and are fine you just have to know to tune them. But the easy drop is fix with little to no tuning is on mikesxs.net there is a whole setup including pod filters... Others go with the vm34's but that does require tuning and jetting the carbs some people do sell complete setup vm34's but its better todo this yourself. The cables are going to depend on the carb setup and bars. What kind of bars are yuo using rise wise? flat bars, meduim rise are apehangers?

the bars are zero rise drag bars on 2 inch riser but there 1 inch so i cant use the stock setup

well when you decided to either keep your stock carbs or go with a different set that will tell you if you need a totally different cable. If you keep the current cabs you may shorten cable there are places that custom make cables that can do that i do believe the cable will still work you will just have alot sticking out. The XS Performance Keihin Carb Kit which mikesxs.net sells cames with cables but again you may have to have the cable shortned so you donot have excess hanging out. If you go with vm34's you will need a daul pull cable which when you do your research it'll be easy to find most guys wanting the vm34's are going for raw power. If your not looking for performance save your money get your jetting right for pod filters and use the stock cable if you dont like the way it hangs out from the flat bars get some of it hacked off. Check around the local bike shops if there are flattrack racers they will be able to tell who makes custom cables.

when you said harley style throttle what did you mean is it a daul cable setup? Or does it run a sinlge cable out of throttle housing? psot a picture of the trottle
