I've been reading the rephase posts and OK, I understand why it works and how the 13 spline center pin locks an XS650 rephase into 277º as the closest you'll get to the 270º optimum unless you pay a fortune for a custom made stagger-splined pin.
BUT
Which piston goes first? Does the left lead the right or the right lead the left, is there a consensus?

Hey, Fred. Most rephased cranks I've seen here have the right leading the left.

Are you thinking that it might influence sidecar steering?

Or to counteract the northern hemisphere's coriolis effect???

good one 2 many!

Right-side leading left is the "standard" way of doing it. When someone sends me a cam and only say that they want it re-phased then I will advance the right-side 41.54°. Occasionally, I will get someone who specifies left-leading-right.

It doesn't matter which way you do it as long as the cam matches the crank.

My triumph scrambler is a re phased crank. I kinda see why people like it now. The noise with the arrow pipe is most awesome. I still love the 360 in the Ole xs too still though.

Not sure why triumph chose the re phase on the scram and left the 360 for the bonneville and the thrux.
