I just got a '81 XS650SH with only 1,340 miles I'm up to 2,250 now . Most of the XS650's I've seen have low miles ( 15,000-25,000) . Has anyone got a high mileage XS650 ?

Well I have 13,XXX on my 72. So do we average it out or what. :D

I had more miles than that on my '72 XS2 in '72 . I've owed a '72, 78 and 83 before I got my latest '81 and put a average 20,000 miles on each one . This is this first XS650 I've had since 1993 . I have 7 bikes now so I probably will only ride my '81 about 2,500 miles a year. I was just wondering if there were any XS650's out there with 75,000- 100,000 miles and over .

Oh well I guess there are not any high mileage xs650's. I thought a a bike that's been around since 1969 there might be a few with over 100,000 miles I've read about alotta bikes that have gone 200,000-300,000 even some Harley Davidson's

Ol' Trigger appears to have 40,061.1 miles. No rebuilds that I know about. No oil use as long as I keep the drive sprocket nut tight. Had 150 lbs compression when I tested it maybe 20,000 miles ago. Still runs the same. Has never run better than now, actually.

Not a candidate for the most miles here! I'm almost embarrassed to say this... My '74 had only 3800 miles on the clock when I bought it from the third owner last spring. I put about 3200 on over the summer, then tore it completely down for a radical rebuild last fall.

what did it look like after only 7,000 miles ? Did it really need a rebuild ?

Ol' Trigger and cowboy3669 have the most miles ! I'm up to 3,470 now .

The only thing it really needed was a new front master cylinder. Fuel system had gummed/rotted from long storage, along with the tires, so carbs and rubber had been replaced. Somewhere along the line it had gained a '76 tank, painted to '74 colors; that, and a couple other little dings, leads me to believe it had taken a knock at some point. The oil had been changed, but the filters never had.

Except for a PAMCO, PMA, hydro clutch, and a starter delete, I haven't touched the engine other than to wash it and change the fluids. All the rebuilding effort has been on the chassis. See the build thread here.

I just walked out to the garage. The clock shows 65,719 miles as of right now. I ride it as much as possible. It was a parts bike that i resurrected from the dead. I have another motor ready for assembly for it but I want to wait until this one dies first. She's still running really good. I can live with the leaky head gasket. It forces me to check the oil level before each ride.

5651 on the odometer. That's all original owner miles, between 80 and 83. I've maybe put 2,000 on it since last fall.

My '77 XS650D has 32,517.9 mi on the clock. I got it back in '92 when it had about 11,000 on it. Of couse I've had several XS650s and many other bikes over the years so the mileage gets spread around.

My '81 has 4,600 on it. The buddy of mine that I bought my XS from bought an 82 Virago 500 after he sold the XS. It has 2,000 miles on it and he has had nothing but problems with it. He paid 2 grand for the thing! Looks like I got the better deal!
