It may be a project to delay dementia

May also bring on early dementia when the wife starts to ask how much it is costing...........

Welcome, teddytootired looking forward to your build. Lots of help here and keep an eye on the classifieds here and post wanted adds as well.

Started with side covers
Rubber is toast and all need to be replaced
Got one retainer off 650 XS logo found what looks like a fiber backer behind steel retainer. It most helped in compression of retainer. Going to let the rest sit over night soaking in WD(might be my favorite tool) to help with remaining retainers. The bar logo looks like pop rivets and ideas?

Those sidecover emblems are very brittle plastic. When I first tried to remove mine, I tried prying up those metal push on speed nuts and wound up breaking those plastic posts off. What I found worked best was taking a Dremel with a cut off wheel and cutting them. When I re installed new emblems, I made some rubber washers out of an old inner tube and a hole punch set.

The 650 emblem in the center is ( I think ) cast aluminum. The chrome scallop is plastic.

I do remove them by bending back the tabs with a specially sharpened little tool. if they aren't real rusty some can be reused.
