Your many hours of cleaning and polishing shows through. The grey coloured control wires show up really nice. Congratulations on bringing it back to life. My '72 is similar to yours only in the fact that it is a complete bike. I will bookmark this for inspiration.

thanks everybody, i bought this xs2 for a driver because i have a 73tx with only 1500 miles and wanted to keep them low. I had bought an xs2 new back in the day and this one now was just fine but i seem to be getting carried away. But as long as i'm having fun it's worth it.

Looking great Gary.

I bought a 72 last summer but its missing its gas tank, needs a new front fender and a few other assorted items to be whole again...sure wish it looked like yours!

Nice job. Mine was completed about five years ago. I also had a 73 way back then, but always liked the 72.

Vincenthdfan I may be able to help you with the gas tank if you are going to restore the 72. I have a perfect 72 tank except for the gas cap neck. It was damage when my painter cleaned it. I have a 71 beat up tank that I was going take the neck from and transplant it to the 72 tank if interested.

cra-z1 WOW!!!, I saw your xs2 about a year ago on this site but could never find it again. Thanks for noticing mine. It will never be as nice as yours but i'm having fun too. How did you get that motor looking so good?? I'm an oil service/ oil business guy that just retired so i'll be in the pole barn a lot this winter instead of down in somebody's basement.

I used a medium size glass beads at low pressure in a blast cabinet. You have to take care that you do not blast any of the internal areas. I made wood blanks to encase the internal areas and blocked all oil passages with plumbers putty. After I washed it multiple times with hot water and Dawn dish soap and used some 0000 steel wool to polish the outside cases. Using a low pressure and larger glass beads tends to peen the surface.
