I would love a roller with swing arm. What I want to build is a bobber with a soft tail. Like this one. I don't know if you can tell what type of frame this is?

That frame looks like a 1981 Special. I do not have any of these. All mine are older models.

The frames are pretty close through the years. The later models are stronger '74+ and '77+ had the 35mm front end as compared to the 34mm of earlier years.
Just get a frame that is '77 or newer with 35mm front end.
The frame in that picture is modified heavily too ....neck gusset, brat kit, tabs removed, center stand mount removed, rear peg removed, battery box removed

If your only after a frame, as littlebill31 says a 74 and later are better than the 70-73 frames. The early Standard 74-76 34mm forked frame triple tree is a straight swap for the 77-83 35mm triple.

The only difference between the Standard 74-79 frame and the 78-83 Special frame is the position of the top mount for the rear shocks. and the bracket shape of the rear foot-peg mount.

But seriously if your going to cut and modify a frame to that extent to make a brat, as in that pic, then you have changed the geometry of the frame so much any gain in the factory produced frame between the early 70-73 and later 74-83 will be negated.
