This is the factory original tank off of what I believe was a 1980 XS650. I have done a brief search on the internet and it looks like this tank will fit a 78-83 XS650 Special. It is in decent overall condition other than a few imperfections. All damage is clearly visible in the pictures. The top of the tank has some clear coat overspray on it from another project that was done in my garage. This could probably be removed with paint thinner or buffed off. I no longer have the key to this tank so I cannot open it to describe what the inside looks like. It was removed from a running bike and it has had fuel sitting in it since it was removed about a year ago. I doubt there is any rust inside, but I can't make any guarantees. Any reputable Yamaha shop can cut a key from the 4 digit code on the cap for less than $10. Some shops will require you to show proof of ownership of an XS650 to do so. If you would like to use your original cap/key, the cap can be removed by knocking the rivet out of the hinge. The petcock worked fine before I removed it from the bike but once again, no guarantees. I ship only to the lower 48 states. Please contact me at 618-558-5539, no PM's. $50 + $20 Shipping FIRM. Paypal gift or add fees please.

It's easy to reach underneath the cap with a stiff piece of wire or bent pick and release the catch.
