Yes, it's a tight fit. Butterfly plate must be horizontal and can't be rotated (keep screw holes in line). Don't be tempted to sand or file the plate edges to make removal/install easier, that will ruin it. I had to replace some that some guy did that to ..... and you can't buy these, never could. You have to scrounge them from other carbs.

Ok, obviously I’m a new member. As I wander around this site NOW I see Tech Tips and a post answering all my questions regarding butterfly screws. Duh. Thanks all for reintegrating what was already in print and tolerating my laziness.
