Just been trawling through some old posts and found your build, I am a big fan of RD’s, but getting one even as a knackered project is hugely expensive in the UK, my mate brought a 78 RD400E, it cost him £9500
To put things in perspective, I got mine off an importer from the US. Cost me $1600 as a roller with a broken frame and the majority of the bike in pieces. From there it cost me roughly three times that initial purchase price to build it and that doesn't factor in my own 'labour' time.
He’s just sold a very nice Kawasaki 1975 KH750 for £12500, and brought an 81 LC350 for £7000, and then surprised me by landing an early RD200 for £1600 that needs refurbishment, as you can imagine his wife is loving all these bikes coming and going
