Mine is a 3L, its a little on the small side. But unless your doing banks of 4 carbs at once its big enough for most small MC parts. A 6L ought to be plenty big enough.
Who sells that formula 88?Mine is a 3L, its a little on the small side. But unless your doing banks of 4 carbs at once its big enough for most small MC parts. A 6L ought to be plenty big enough.
What size cleaner does everyone have? Is 6L big enough for most parts?
I got it at Home DepotWho sells that formula 88?
I use the ultrasonic unit for everything. Gets the pistons very clean with little addition cleaning( depending on the carbon build up). I use this product only and have their unit. Have not tried generic cleaners.
If that’s Castrol Super Clean I’ve found it’s really nasty on aluminum. Perhaps not so bad diluted. I used to use it to degrease my engine bays but it severely corroded some engine guards an also took out a sensor in the engine bay. Mind you, that was at full strength. I still have some but use it carefully now.I have a gallon of SUPER CLEAN on hand. I could use a proper mix ratio for diluting it. I assume it's similar enough to Simple Green.
I would like to know from one of you experienced.
1) Mix ratio water/cleaner
2) temperature setting
3) Duration -I removed the carbon from the top with a brass wire brush already
Maybe I'll try to find some Simple Green. If that’s Castrol Super Clean I’ve found it’s really nasty on aluminum. Perhaps not so bad diluted. I use Simple Green Extreme (for Aircraft) will not turn Aluminum back and also white vinegar.I stick anything in the ultrasonic cleaner that will fit. I’ve done pistons before with no adverse effects on the part, but I recently did some aluminum motor mounts for my car and was disappointed with the result. Even after a thorough rinsing it left a white powdery residue on the parts. I was using the cleaning solution supplied with the machine. It was a no brand cleaner mixed 20:1 with water.
I've put some pretty nasty two stroke pistons in mine and they came out beautiful. I wouldn't hesitate to put pistons in mine again. Is there any good reason I should not use the ultrasonic cleaner for pistons? Or, is it just a waste of time?
There’s lots of videos on ultrasonic cleaners. I’ve watched a couple that said gasoline is a great cleaner (used in a separate container, suspended in water) but I’m a bit leery about using it because I’d it’s volatility.
