I work for the City of Virginia Beach and today we posted a house bought by our wonderful local goverment( the sign reads" property of The City Virginia Beach") As we were changing the locks on the house and securing the property I decided to go into the detached garage. I opened the garage door and there in front of me were 3 xs650's!!! and 2 hondas that had been abondoned by the previous property owner. One xs was stock and the others were disassembled and laying about. It took everything in my power to close the garage door and walk away. What a terrible waste bikes. Im gonna try and contact the demo company that has the contract to remove all debri and trash on the property and see if they will let me take the bikes. Keep your fingers crossed!!!!!

Oh yeah, go for it. Chance favors the prepared bike nabber. Uh better to ask forgiveness than permission? Just kidding, no sense screwing up a city job! Let us know if you get the prize.

If there is any way i can get just one? please let me know, im in Greenbriar 15 min away. If so please PM me, im very serious. If the city or demo company doesn't wanna cooperate with you let me know, maybe a recon mission will be necessary.....:D

Talk to the demo guy and if he won't give them to you offer to buy them. At that point he'll know you're serious and as likely as not will give them to you. Don't try to get them from your employer. Their response will most likely be no way no how, just to avoid even the appearance... But you know them better than I do :) Let the demo guy know you saw them in your capacity with city govt, but be vague describing your job, unless you're the guy who hands out the contracts. Politics ya know...

went by today and they were gone gone!!! when you post a house with City Property signs its screams VACANT!!!!!! So Im sure a neighbor slipped over and opened the garage and snatched them up!!! The house is in a fairly bad part of town. Atleast it gives you hope knowing there are finds like that still around. OHHH WELL

Next time you find something like this. LET ME KNOW!
I can make up a good excuse to leave work and I have a 5x12 utility trailer just begging to be loaded down with xs650's.
Seriously, and I'll just take one complete bike in any condition as payment, or a frame and parts, or a frame.
LET US KNOW DUDE!

The previous owner has turned the house over as is. Meaning he abandoned all property when he left the premises. Meaning the bikes are in limbo. The City of virginia beach owned them at the time of theft. The City then hires a demo company to come in and remove all "JUNK" and then level the house. City goverment would die in hell before they gave those bikes up to average people like us, so the demo company would have been the best way to be able to salvage the rides.

It isn't stealing when it is a rescue mission…………..The American Society of Rescue, Recovery and Preservation of the XS650………………..Authorises all XS650 enthusiasts to seize all at risk motorcycles for their safety and preservation.

Out of curiosity, if you were to have gotten those bikes from the demo crew, what would the legality of acquiring titles be? Seems like a very odd scenario.

Thats what god made alphanumerical punches for. Just grind down and re-punch the vin of your existing XS into the neck . . . . instant two for one insurance, registration and plates

I really hope that the person who got them is going to ride them and not just sell them for scrap. . . . otherwise I am saddened that we didn't bring the truck and scoop them up for at least parts.

Those will be easily recognizable as not original, and it's a felony to do that. Probably won't ever be caught... honestly probably never... but who knows what could happen three owners down the road and it will be traced back to you.
