I’m glad I could help! I remember how tough that was. Sold my xs a couple years ago. I really miss it! On the hunt for an older one now 76 or 77. Have fun!!
.
hello!! I sold my xs in the summer of 2018. I sure miss it though ;) There’s a lot of very smart and helpful people on this forum!!
Sorry no.. I never got the headlight fail thing wired up so believe I just unplugged the oil wires so the Light wouldn’t bug me. Good luck!!
$47.. Amazon Canada.
I was reading about helicoils and taps and all that, and was starting to shake a bit at the thought of a buggered plug hole and pulling engine and head etc... then saw a thread on here talking about a reverse tap that might do the trick if your threads are basically...
Tonight I back tapped one of my spark plug holes. one of the plugs has always been less than smooth going in and out. Last time I really struggled to get it started, so I did a bit of reading and decided to try a reverse tap to clean up the broken threads before I cause more damage - 14mm from...
D'oh... I just posted an update to a diff thread... anyways... I pulled carbs and adjusted right butterfly (closed it a bit so it was the same as left).... ran terrible after that, so I adjusted it back... going to re-check valves and cam chain adjuster this weekend as well and try to find me a...
The other day, I put my stock signals back on as my el cheepo after market lights kept blowing fuses. Stock lights look the best imo. But I didn’t know until I wasted a bunch of time on other lights. Lol
Now. I’m trying to find source of whining sound on right side and to synch the carbs...
Ok. I fitted it all as tight as I could. Still not good enough imo. Will try and get a better clamp and need to deal with right side frame mount. Here’s a vid of it running. I really like the sound!!!! :) 20 min test ride was great. One very minor back fire near the end. Probably leaks a bit...
Awesome photos 5t. :) thanks.
My current system is hung from only one bolt and not tied into the frame at all. Lol. 2-1 loud and leaky. ;) .. surprised it hasn’t fallen off yet. Lol.
I will explore the hanger bar you mention.
Xsdirect in Canada still sells it.
They also sell a 1.75 - 1.5...

5twins.. I just read read your note on the sliding track. I thought you were talking about the frame mount piont under the foot pegs..., lol. Great idea... but no, the system only comes with 2 s brackets for hanging the mufflers off the passenger pegs.
Yup... superjet... the mufflers came...
Thanks guys. I really appreciate the advice. I will do a bit of shopping today. One of the issues is that the muffler clamp bottoms out (clamp tips touch) before any clamping even happens. Maybe a smaller clamp with more bold thread would be better or even a different type of clamp.
I also...
No it doesn’t. And the left side pipe is way too close to the frame when bolted down. Muffler too close to axle. I figure I’ll use a longer bolt with spacers. Thanks for the tip!!!
