It's the tail light solenoid. Careful how you wire it along with your taillight you can fry your ignition unit

I would like to know all the possible electrical setups I could do if I go after market. And which would need a battery or this or that. I have a 82 xs650 I'm not sure if that's points or tci. But like for the Boyer setup what would I need and for the pamco and if there any other setups? Morris...

82 xs650 with stock ignition. It's only what the bike needs plus a headlight and taillight and killswitch and one fuse.

Its a flour can but all the electronics need to be cooled so I have them mounted now. Ignition unit on battery box and coil on backbone and rectifier on pate on bottom of frame. And I'm not sure who makes the wheels

Thanks so much for the help my bikes running again. But.my battery keeps dying. I dont know if its not charging because its low or because i fried the stator. If i was to test it what should it be reading?

Ken, im only wiring a on/ switch. What wires do i connect to the switch? Also im running a head light and tail light which i guess runs to the red wire with a fuse thay goes to my battery

It didnt have any fuses in it. I didnt wire the bike. Im gonna wire one in though
