Sat. morning, I'm out riding my bike for the first to try out my new Gordon Scott high pipes. I had went up the state highway about 10 miles on usual loop and decided to return on the county road. This is a route I take all the time. It is 10:30 am. I get on the county road and as I was coming up thru the gears taking in the growl of my new pipes, a large doe out of nowhere is running along my right side! I think she is going to jump in the woods to the right but she had other ideas. I hit the brakes, tires squawl and she leaps right across my front fender about chest high. As she does deer poo flys out her ass and hits me in the chest! I never touched the deer but she was probally 2 ft in front of me. Came back home and Had a cool one. That was close! By the way I love my new pipes! David

You're lucky all that you got was deer shit. Friend of mine ended his encounter with the deer's head stuck between the front forks of his dresser and lived to tell about it. They are very unpredictable.

The release of the poo lightened her weight and gave her the extra oomph to clear you, ha!
Deer poo is better than vulture vomit....they'll lighten their weight for clearance too!
Glad you didn't collide.

davmo;

For sure, deer are plentiful and aggressive this year. Your story had a happy ending so you braked at the right time.

Just last month I had a similar encounter. The deer came out of the roadside ditch so fast it was a blur. I braked real hard and the deer barely made it across in front of me. I actually hit its back leg, but it kept on going. This occurred inside the city of Calgary.

Stay safe guys, the deer are out to get us this year.

living in northern michigan i've hit 2 deer head on with my car, had one assist (the deer hit the side of my car and the car behind me finished it off) and narrowly dodged atleast 10 deer on a motorcycle - actually had deer fur in one of my blinkers once, never deer poo though....

glad to hear you're ok

You can't predict what they'll do. Instead, the immediate action when you see one should be just carefully slow the hell way down or stop!

Hotdog now thats funny LOL!! He scared the shit out of the deer!! Glad your safe man I live in an area loaded with deer and its always a thought in my mind!!

In Virginia last month I had to stop for a doe with her fawn and start blowing the horn to get her to get off the road. She stood there looking at me about 15 feet from her, I talked to her and she didn't move so I blew my horn.

Glad to hear that you made it out okay...

Plus you have a funny story to tell over brews.

Win/win
