Okay a bit of a thread steal....sorry in advance.
No need for apology. I don't have any more to tell. Unless you want me to start listing all of my personal problems.
Okay a bit of a thread steal....sorry in advance.
sorry to hear that 2M . Best thing I've found for any inflamatory condition is Naproxen 500mg twice daily . it nearly always works on my spine within a few days. It reduces the pain better than Co-promimal 500/30mg .
Gel packs from the freezer works good too. Most of the pain often comes from the inflamation, swelling and tissue odema
I cannot manage to lift my bike onto the centre stand at all . I thought it was you that suggested pushing the rear wheel onto a 3/4" thick piece of plywood to reduce height you need to lift the bike ?
I Like that, I'll definitely have to try it.Cooked-up a strap trick to get the bike on the centerstand.
Used an old tie-down strap, with included hook.

You mean this thing here?Look at 5twins grease zert mod for the center stand.
The handle was on the left side of the frame rail 3-4 inch's forward of the fender/ turn signal bolt. IIRC 3/8's round stock works well for this repair.
I'd picture you but am mobil for a few more days.
centrestands is just for wheel changes, chain retensioning and drum rear brake adjustment.
Anything else, just use the sidestand, eh?
Michaelp, Gordon, do you fellows have a helper or observer for if/when you try this?
At least to call 911?
Sometimes, I'll pre-dial 911 on my smartphone, have it setting close by, finger hovering over "dial"...
Okay......for me at least I "think" I have found the answer for my handleless XS650B. I dug through a box of bits I have on the shelf and came up with a folding footpeg with mount.....just so happens it's a Yamaha bit but I have no clue where it came from. No photos yet because I'm still messing around with the fit but it will mount to the bikes frame. When not in use the peg will fold down out of the way.(upside down from normal)....when I need it, I just reach down and fold it up and it gives me a handle to help lift the bike...and....Bob's yer uncle.
Take care and I hope everybody is healing up???????
We're starting a club! Kids are moving tomorrow. Still no heavy lifting for me.
Sorry for the bad luck, 2many.
Okay a bit of a thread steal....sorry in advance.
Peanut, my XS650 is a B model and the handle I'm talking about is actually the one on the frame not the seat/rack/sissy bar.......
Glad you're feeling better Marty.......word has it Mick is struggling with pain and swelling (ugh) 2M probably has some of that today too.
Geeze fellows.......we're getting old...heh?

Thanx, Fred. But, I hope you won't mind if I, and others, use the centerstand during:
- Oil changes, sump filter servicing
- Chain cleaning/lubing
- Spoke checks/tightening
- Tire inspections, air
- Wheel cleaning
- Fillups at the gas station (for those center-positioned gas caps)
- Any form of front end checks and servicing
- General tuneups
- Tweaking and synchronizing carbs
- All those left cover pulls doing them clutch actuation experiments
And, the bike simply takes up less room in my tiny barn thataway.
