Resisting Temptation

It is impossible to defend yourself from a car that has threatened your well being, but self defense and putting someone out of commission after they have assaulted you is not criminal. I always said, "keep at them until they don't move, it's legal".

I will kick a car that has threatened me, entered my lane and blocked me from other driver's views and has left me in an exposed situation for a collision, and if the driver that has threatened me exits the car..........

Kind of on the same subject of threats.
Wasn't a law just passed or a precedent set, in the US, that when a person in a vehicle feels threatened from a person on foot, then the person can use that vehicle to stop the threat? In other words, run their ass over.

I don't wear condoms getting a handy or a bj like I don't wear a helmet going thru my small town. (25mph light to light). I wear a condom when I stick it in her. I wear a helmet on trips/highways and everywhere else. This is my safety perspective. Haha!

just as you can never trust a women with your sperm you can never trust, not having an accident close to home........

Strange but funny comparison. Low speed mishaps are where a helmet gives the most protection. I have a cracked helmet and had three cracked ribs to prove it. I'm certain I would have been dead without the helmet, speed, I was barely moving.

I tried going helmet-less once on a trip in New Mexico (I think) in the early '80s. I went about a mile and stopped and hatted up again.

Just couldn't do it.

I guess I had learned too much about impact mechanics in engineering school.

I'm wondering now if ABATE lobbies for legalizing lane splitting. That would give me one more reason to argue and heckle at their booths at rallies. Someone should start a non-profit organization to collect money to counter just about everything that ABATE stands for.

Hi Scott,
as I understand ABATE, they are not against wearing helmets, they are against making helmets mandatory.
Presumably seat belts, too?
Perhaps they have a point? Folks do all kinds of hazardous things just for the fun of it.
They climb mountains, crawl into caves, jump out of aircraft hoping their parachute will open and none of those activities are against the law fer chrissake.

Just going for a walk in the woods in some places can be dangerous, take the wrong path and not pay attention to where you are and weeks later they are still searching for you! Not to mention downhill skiers!

Do I wear a helmet? Yes and would even if it was not "the law". I also wear 10 inch high steel toe lace up boots and a high vis armored jacket.

Good job removing Red Shoes!
I go back and forth on lane splitting. I have never done it and I am not sure I will unless it becomes legal and even then I am not sure about that. I can see a long line of slow moving traffic on a super hot day getting to the front of the line being a better option than sitting there. I don't live in an area where there is miles of traffic though.
I always wear all my gear when I ride.....always! I took a beetle off the chest the other day and it imploded upon impact. I can't imagine if that hit me in the face and I didn't have a helmet on.
In hockey, when the puck is near the bench and some yahoo fires one off the boards I duck, even when it's my teammates. It isn't that I don't trust them.....I don't trust anyone! I did trust a guy once......20 stitches later, I don't. That applies to be riding on the road and or lane splitting too, I can't trust that the 19 year old in Moms SUV is going to see me and or care if they don't.

The way the law was written in cali, traffic had to be going under 30mph and you couldn't go more than 15mph faster while splitting, if I remember correctly. I've done it before, traffic was at a walking pace, my bikes temp gauge was headed for red, so I was going maybe 25 between the cars. Helped the bike cool off, and no one hassled me. I wouldn't do it if traffic was moving at a good pace.
