Fred, No! Say it ain't so!
Aw hell, that cross country ride he's been planning for.....
I really like that guy. Just here, PM's and a few times on the phone, but damn he is a friend!
Smooth curvy roads forever, Fred.
Called local bud I see only a couple times a year, and we rode out and went nowhere today took us 8 hours and 250 miles to do it. Guess that is a fitting farewell, even if I didn't know it yet.
Fred we ride for you!

Damn !
Such sadness.
As others have said, Fred had a friendliness that is rare in today's world.
I very much enjoyed his invitations to party with him, and I am kicking myself hard tonite that I didnt make it down to southcentral PA to have a beer with him.
And his invitation to take the cross country road trip; obviously, I thought about it much too long.
Back 20 years ago, I dedicated the restoration of my '69 Bonneville to a high school pal who was run over on his maiden voyage on his restored '45 Harley. If I eventually do the cross country trip, I will dedicate it to Fred.

He will live on in our memories.

I've never met the man or pm'ed or anything other than these forums. Nun the less, he was a brother. He will be missed by his brothers and sisters. Rest in Peace Fred.

Awww....I just came in from the workshop and this is one of the first things I saw.

What a shame and clearly a tough time for Fred’s family with his dad passing away just 10 days ago. As everyone has said, I found Fred to be a friendly soul and an enthusiastic contributor. As Dude said - Fred opened his home to all of us - I just wish I’d been able to take him up on the invitation.

Very sad - condolences to the family.

8-30-17 Fred commented in the lounge,

"Hey now,,,, I wear orthopedics,,, insoles,,,hehheh
I don't look my age and I sure don't act it,,,
Have most of my hair n teeth,,,don't need a walker or a cane.
Work 7 days a week doing my job or taking care of the place,, got a 3 acre yard and a 170 year old house to maintain.
Ya GOTTA stay bust and occupied,, I have seen too many that retired just wither away and die because all they did was sit on the recliner and watch Springer.
Me?? I will probably stay at my job till I can't get up anymore. I like to work."

At least he never saw it coming, a small blessing. 59 years old, too soon gone.

A sweet Tribute to this good man, Bob, in his own words.

I totally agree. Keep on keepin’ on!

Remember friends:

The boys don’t stop playin’ cause they get old....they get old cause they stopped playin’.

The only variable is when each of us gets “old”. For a few, it’s well into their 90’s, for most is in the 75-85 range and for an unfortunate few, it’s even earlier.

The key thing (as an old oil field buddy of mine said on a starry night while drinking on the helipad of an offshore rig in Africa in the winter of 1982: “Live your damned life everyday boy - ‘cause you don’t know how much of it you have left”.
