My son, with points ignition, used to take day trips on his XS650 chopper, 50-60 miles each way, He always made it home. Electronic ignition would not fare so well.
would have thought electronic ign have drawn less power and battery last longer???? hope so waiting on a new rotor but need the bike for a bike wedding next weekend 50 miles there and back (might throw the charger in the saddle bags in case) yrs ago did 30 miles on the battery when the alternator caught fire with no drama , it was points and then and now no h/light on permently
On a points system, the current draw is from the coil and condenser. Electronic would be the coil and electrics. I suspect it's a wash...
EDIT: I seem to recall that the coil pri. resistance is different between the points system and an electronic one. Whichever has the lower resistance will have the higher current draw.
Haha, na, not gonna bite Jim. It would likely spark some interesting discussions. Maybe best avoided.
Frankly, I'm getting a little tired of the fact that this seems to be all there is to talk about up here lately. All the radio stations are playing is every stoner song that's ever been written. "Classic Rock Stoner Tracks". Songs for the enlightened.
