Jeff Bezos Made Over $7.9 Million An Hour Every Hour In 2023 — In Under 13 Minutes, He Brought In The Equivalent Of What The Typical Person Earns In A Lifetime

Are you familiar with Oobah Butler? He's an English journo-prankster - stunts all documented elsewhere. His relevance here is the drivers' piss stunt. Oobah managed to get a job at an Amazon 'fulfillment centre'. For those not sharing Amazon's corporate linguistic space, that's a warehouse. Oobah was doing undercover research into these places being sweat shops where the workers are put under huge time & productivity pressures. Cover blown and sacked, he picked up on his finding that Amazon delivery drivers carry bottles to relieve themselves - management taking the piss with delivery schedules so tight that drivers couldn't. Or at least, couldn't find the time to locate an appropriate venue . . . so they used plastic bottles and dumped these outside depots. Sorry, fulfillment centres.

So Oobah's version of taking the piss was to market a soft drink allegedly using the contents of those bottles. With plenty of positive reviews from Oobah's friends and colleagues, he made it Amazon's #1 product in its soft drink sector.

But I don't find that quite so disgusting as earning most people's lifetime salary in under 13 minutes.

Unfortunately this really happened to a friend of mine whom I sold my '59 Sears Allstate to. He and his brother put a 'foot shift' conversion on it (came with 3 speed hand shift) and were pushing it down an alley to start it. Jim, the owner, was riding it and put his hand down on the 'choke' (see photo--except it didn't have a chain guard on it) and went down to far and his fingers went through the counter sprocket with chain. He lost the tips of 3 fingers and was hospitalized for 2 days. He did end up riding it with us in the hills west of Boulder. Yes, I felt bad and he never blamed me. He was affectionally called 'stubby' and liked it.

Finger in chain; back in mini-bike days @JRP01 did that, ran a sharp sprocket tooth right through his thumb and nail while rolling the chain back on the rear sprocket.. I got the master link apart to free him. (we were on backwoods trails in Devils Lake State Park, ah the good ole days) Put it back together and kept riding til his dad picked us up later in the day) That may have been the only time we ever got a lift to go riding and surely weren't going to waste the day due to a minor mishap.
