71' XS1-F with a pickup coil?? What is goin on...

I'm seeing electric start gears in that first photo of the alternator.
Engine is definitely not from any type of XS1.
Bike looks pretty cool though.
Well spotted. If those cases are stamped as XS1, there's something not making sense there. The top end with the four bolt valve cover isn't XS1 either.

Thinking about it, I think that all the pre '74 frames and cases had numbers starting with S650.
I think the kick-start only cases stopped at about S650-25000, and then the XS2 cases appeared but still with a S650 prefix.

I know it’s a chopper and there are lots of purists on here which I totally respect! I am a DIY til I die but I don't wanna die on this thing so I want to make it as sketchy-safe as possible :)
I’m sure nobody here is gonna say squat about that being a chopper besides the fact you’re trying to save it. If the PO replaced the lower case that would explain that however a few other items point to a later model bike. The carbs as 5t pointed out(BTW lose those cone filters), the wheels and front engine mount definitely later model along with the ignition parts. You have a good mystery on your hands. Is there a ser # on the frame neck? I also see the frame has been de-tabbed.
