She turned over, but didn't sustain ignition

Hey guys :) Previous owner updated it with a 6 pin cdi ignition system. I wouldn't even know how to adjust it but I'm sure it's wired right. New universal coils and cables too which is why I'm thinking maybe the cables are reversed? Anyone know if the old cdi system is wasted spark? I dunno-...

She turned over, but didn't sustain ignition

Hey guys, Rewired the bike (1977 XS650 with an updated electric ignition, not points), starter motor engaged...occasionally it would make a god awful grinding noise but MOST of the time the pistons got chugging away like they should. Added gas, and basically I got fire leaping out of the...

Handle bar clamps/risers, OEM or non?

Hey guys thanks for all the replies! Wasn't sure if I was missing an easy OEM source but something a bit more updated from Biltwell or Joker might be the way: http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/biltwell-slimline-risers I'm hoping these might do the trick? @ 54inches Haven't figured out...

Handle bar clamps/risers, OEM or non?

Hey there, Want to remove these clip ons and replace them with some more traditional handlebars but I have no hardware to attach...no OEM risers or anything like that. Is there someone still making aftermarket risers that will fit the 650 and dampen vibration? Or is there any other attachment...

Do I solder these coil connections?

Hi there, These wires were cut on this ignition coil...and I THINK the idea is you solder your two mains directly to these tiny terminals? I'll have to heat the old stuff out of there and then resolder new wires...sound right? No special connector or weirdness I have to do other than resolder...

What are these extra wires coming from the alt?

Hey thx for the quick reply, So if I'm using my multimeter to figure out which wires I actually need off the ALT, what am I looking for? Resistance to ground? And if I read that last one right, that means I'm gonna need more than just the three whites coming off the alt, right?

What are these extra wires coming from the alt?

Hey guys, long time reader, first post. I could use a little help... So I received a 1977 XS650 cafe racer style as a gift. Engine was zeroed out and works fine but the electrical was an old racing rig, and I've pulled it out to rewire it a bit less psycho :) It was already upgraded to TCI...
