I am taking my 75 to be powder coated and noticed a fork lock on the stem. Is there a way to remove this without a key. I would like to remove it since the cover will be in the way when coating.

A fuel tank came with my project 75 xs650 and has been painted multiple times obviously. Is there a way to identify whether this is a stock yamaha xs650 tank? are there particular dimensions, or markings on the bare metal i can look for, petcock mounting holes, etc...

looks like the gear lock thingy (cant find the name of the part) is broken in 2 places, but there was no debris in the engine case... not sure if im looking at a problem or not. parts manual doesnt show this. it locks into the gears.

I found a 1975 model "not running" for $400. I have never owned a motorcycle and my riding experience is 15 minutes about 25 years ago. I have always wanted to rebuild one and the opportunity presented itself. I look forward to the process and educating myself here.
