Wow, you're right, I didn't know. Sorry for the misinformation. I just talked to my dad (who owned this before me) and he confirmed that these are not original miles but he does have the original speedo and is looking for it. I'll update this when I have the actual miles. My ignorance, my bad.

My dad replaced the actuator 15 or so years ago because the plastic part was cracked. I'm not sure what he replaced it with but it was working fine last time it was on the road. For worm travel are we talking about its rotation, or the amount it pushes in on the rod?

You're pretty much right. Turns out the shaft is .1 mm bigger than the holes. I talked to my dad and he suggested an adjustable reamer. So I ordered one of those and it's on the way. Thinning down the shaft isn't an option because it's such a nice fit in it's collar/sleeve whatever that part is...
