I recently completed my 1979 XS650 build, got it running, everything seems fine, but I was smelling gas. I've figured out it looks like both petcocks are leaking, I still need to be sure its both and not just one, but its hard when its below zero temps.
Having said all that, do people here...
Hey Guys. For the last few days after i've rode short trips the next morning when i go to start my bike i've found a film of fuel beneath the carbs on my '79 XS-F. Now i am not sure where the leak is coming form but it looks like there could be some coming from the back of the float bowl. But...
I have an xs 750 tank with original vacuum petcocks. I run them in the pri position when running and in the on position to turn them off. After a ride I will park the bike, turn the fuel off and then a few hours later fuel is leaking out the overflows and continues to bubble out for the next...
Have 1977 model bought rebuild kits for peacocks had them apart 2-3 times and still dripping from bodies not tank area, see nothing out of order but any ideas? There are not that many moving parts, tried flipping over round piece with 4 holes still drips reluctant to give up and buy new ones as no...
Okay, one more question here. 73 650 I purchased new petcocks as the old ones were just that, old. cracked, leaking etc....

My question is, do I have to add anything to seal it off? Or will the thread seal itself? Me and Dave were discussing this last night. I'm thinking...
This is my first post so I hope this is correct.
Can vacuum petcock be converted to non vacuum? I have a 79 XS650f and am rebuilding the petcocks. Is there a way to eliminate the vacuum and have them work without vacuum? What is required if possible?
Thanks
Hey folks,
I really really really need a petcock rebuild kit for my 79 xs650 special... I need 2, one for each petcock...
They need to have diaphrams and in-tank filters..
If someone know's where I can get a GOOD rebuild kit (or petcocks with the original:thumbsup: non-replaceable parts)...
So today, after putting copper fuel lines on everyone else's motorcycle, I decided today was the day I would put the copper fuel lines on my bike. One of the fittings coming out of the aftermarket petcock needed to be tightened so I decided to start there. Oops! Broke the fitting.
I spent...
