Just bought this xs2 and not sure why the fender is not aligned with the tire. It looks to me that it has wrong fender, it has spacers on right side and on the right side the fender bracket that bolts to the fork is straight not like my 73 tx650 that curves outward. I haven't owned a xs2 since 74 and don't remember if the fenders were different but something is wrong as the tire should be in the middle of the fender. Here are some pics and thanks for your help, txgary

I used to fool with this on accident repairs, and sometimes on new bikes. Couple of things to consider:

Is the rim centered over the hub, or more aestetically, between the forks. It can be adjusted a little more centered by adjusting the spoke lacing. On factory new bikes you would look for different exposed spoke thread lengths, left vs right. Hard to tell with aftermarket, as spoke lengths aren't consistent.

Fenders, braces, and struts are just sheetmetal. They can be rebent slightly to get the fit you want...

Can't really tell from your pictures. The wide fender bracket does seem different.
Compare it to this parts manual excerpt:

I believe it is a 72 fender. Below is some pics of mine. Don't go by anything else in the pic's. Only the fender is 72. The rest is 73 TX750 forks.

Has the wheel been relaced.

Hi gary,
just read this whole string.
That's a nice bike.
Nothin' about the fender alignment that can't be fixed with the careful use of a padded prybar.
