I think you will find the Special is an 81SH, (production run from Aug 80 to July 81), Heritage Specials have spoke wheels and started in 82.

An advantage with the 81SH is the mag rear has a drum brake, (only year in the States the Specials had a drum brake rear Mag), it is a straight swap over to spoke wheels without and mods.

Thanks for the info 650Skull. I really like this bike with the mag wheels and the drum brakes. I had an 80 Special with disc brakes at one time. Nice bike just didn't have that look this bike does.

Sorry for the typo on the 81. At one time I tried to study these bikes and learn all the variations, but nothing ever set.
