1977 paint job

Hi everyone,

So I'm restoring a 1977 XS650.

The side covers and gas tank are in excellent condition, however, the PO stripped them and spray painted them with some kind of automotive primer.

I'm short on money right now so I want to paint the tank and sidecovers myself. I'd like to keep it either the 1977 colors of blue or maroon. Either would be fine.

Does anyone have any info on what EASILY available spray paint color would look ok AT A DISTANCE. It doesn't need to be perfect. When I have more money I'll order original parts off of ebay.

As with any paint the prep work is what makes it look good. Poor prep, poor look.
