The regulator keeps blowing my main fuse. Is there a way to fix the regulator? I found exact replacements on ebay for $25 so maybe that's a better route.

Can I replace it with the single unit regulator/rectifier that are on the 1980s? Is it worth the trouble of re-wiring?

Thanks.

Yes, the $15 Dodge regulator and a few minutes changing the wiring to match is well worth the effort. For a bit more you can get one that doesn't need rewiring.
I have the $15 Dodge one on mine and couldn't be happier.

I just did some checking and the regulator you want is a VR291 from NAPA Auto. Thier part number is MPEVR1010SB.
I'll post a pic to show what it looks like.
If you follow Jayels first link, it will take you to a thread talking about the VR292Z regulator that I use. If you Click on Charging systems, scroll down to Solid State Regulator $24.94 is the thread on the reg you want.
Read through the thread first, lots of good info about regulators. There are threads on building a rectifier for $6.58. Read that thread to.
