Can anyone advise me if a 1980 camshaft will work in a 1978 447 engine ? The cam chain seems a little tight on assembly before adjustment.

Yes and yes a new cam chain will be very tight till it is run for a bit.

also, make sure after you run it you check it often. mine loosened up quite a bit.

There's no difference between the 78 an 80 cams AFAIK.

Yeah, that number on hoos racing site is apparently his cell# becasue he answered when he was on the road.
Got my questions answered. Thos guys seem pretty good to deal with.
All the cams from 74 up are all the same. Some of the earlier cams were ground a bit different.
