Hey there, this is me trying to make something cool out of that old little thing

Started with a bobbed out bike the previous owner had modifyed
    [IMG]

welded back a stock rear end for the cafe racer look I was going for
    [IMG]

Scored a set of stock spoked wheels
    [IMG]

Sandblasted/powdercoated the hubs and bought new SS spokes and nipples along with a 18'' rear rim

    Nice work!
I've been looking for some options for treating a set of slightly-rusted '81 wheels I have, and your blasting/powdercoating looks like something I could do. Is that a satin or gloss black powdercoat?
Those wheels don't seem to be the high-shouldered aluminum type as seen on the '75 and '76. Were they chromed? I can't tell by the pics. thanks.

Looks like he started with a set of the 79 only SP II wheels.....

.....and they appear to be aluminum, not chromed steel. I imagine that sandblasting chrome could be problematic, with potential flaking off....

The finish is called Ink Black, it's a deep gloss black. And yes they are aluminum. I do not know what is the year of the bike they come from but they are shouldered.

Sandblasting chrome is okay as long as the chrome isnt peeling off.

Got to work on the electronics today

    Started making the wiring
    [IMG]

Test fitted the gas tank, man this thing is a beauty
    [IMG]

    Installed the tail light
    [IMG]

Made some brackets for the turn signals
    [IMG]

Modified the turn signals so they would not stick out that much
    [IMG]

And polished / riveted my signature on the battery box, feel free to check out my facebook page or website

Rec/reg wiring is completed, all clean
    [IMG]

Was able to install the other side cover as well as the pod filters
    [IMG]

The electrical box is getting some work done to it too, still need to wire the handlebar
    [IMG]

Started installing the freshly powdercoated control boxes
    [IMG]

And fab a nice polished stainless speedo bracket, just because
    [IMG]

My seat is getting upholstered today and I should get it back in two days
Hopefully I'll have the chance to try it on the road before the first snow falls, seems like we will get one hell of a winter up here this year... :banghead::banghead:/

Will you be able to crank the starter with that battery or are you going kick-only?
