Hey guys. New to this site but I've been perusing it religiously for a while.
My battery is going dead. I did the "slap" test with a wrench on the outer stator cover and no dice on a magnetic pull. My battery is at 12.7 volts so it's not the issue. Pulled the brushes and they're an okay length. Found some corrosion on the center white stator wire and cleaned that off. Looking for advice on the next logical steps to find the weak link. The bike is a '73 tx650. Thank you in advance.

Take the stator off and ohm check the rings of the rotor?

When putting the stator back on you must get it straight or you risk breaking one of the retaining tabs. There is an alignment pin at about 7 o'clock position.

Got about a 4.5 on the rotor. Battery acts like it is getting a charge after putting everything back together. I think it was just some crud build up on the stator wire harness and the brushes seemed like they weren't mounted properly by the PO. Thanks for your fast response. Wish me luck.
