The build has been coming slowly in the new year. I've mainly been cleaning up the frame. Cut the rear fender bracketry off, fabbed up tabs for the turn signals. I have an LED tail/brake on the way, inspired by this CB750 build. Luckily it is free, since my dad works in the trucking industry. I also bought a CB750 left hand (turn/horn) switch, and will drill the handlebars to run the wiring inside. I have to admit that it is quite uncluttered for an OEM design, and I couldn't find anything I really liked.

I'm also considering removing the plastic, forward section of rear fender, and mounting the regulator on a bracket at the front of the frame a la this XS by Thrive.

Got the tail light fitted, though I'm going to redo it by bolting directly to the seat. I also broke down and bought a Sparx capacitor in lieu of soldering up my own. Prior to installing, I took my capacitance tester to it... and found that it's only a 4500 uF cap. That's appalling, but I'm going run it anyway, given I'll have full LEDs less the headlight.

I've run wires, with the intent to go in-frame to hide them. I'm also planning to bolt the rec/reg to the underside of the seat to hide it a little better.

Well, I got her mostly buttoned up, and have ridden her around the block a couple times as I worked out some kinks. The carbs definitely need to be tuned, and the electrics box redone. I picked up a smaller ignition switch, so I can further reduce the visual mass around the seat.

I sold the seat, so I'll be purchasing one from Counterbalance soon. And I'm going to swap out the forks for 35mm units. The plan is to upgrade to a fazer blue dot or Brembo, and I already have an 11mm master ready to bolt on.

Once I get it road worthy, the real fun begins as I get to pull everything back apart to clean it all up up and powdercoat some things.

Pulled the trigger on some blue dot rotors + calipers and 11mm master (I'll only be using one side). I used a template from this thread, which I played around with a bit converting into a CAD file. I also designed a gauge panel for the OEM gauges, with holes for headlight and kill switches. This will be modified when I get new gauges.

I'm going to make my own brackets for mid- or rear sets, likely using a DIY kit from Old School Speed or something similar. I don't have a provision for passenger pegs, which I'd like to have... I don't think I've seen any other bikes without the hoop, is that normal? I'm planning to design a single bracket for both, which will use the OEM 2-point mounts, extending rearward about 150 mm for the passenger. That's still in the concept stage, however. For now, though, off to the water jet...

Here's also a preliminary drawing of the spacer. I'll mock up the wheel when I get the rotors, then finalize thickness.
