For sale is a 1978 650 Special. 19k miles and has been stored for 11 years.
It ran when it was put away and the motor is not seized.
The title is clean (Minnesota)
Spare gas tank, front caliper, carb set, shifter lever and some others.
Also has a clymer manual, original bars and original tool kit.

Looking to trade for a 12ga. pump or other personal protection items. Otherwise it's best cash offer.

A diamond in the rough, but it would be sweet to see this bike restored. I have a mint, bone stock, original 1978 XS650SE that is Vintage Burgundy in color. A blue '78 Special is something I have never seen, outside of photographs. The Special is the Rodney Dangerfield of bikes, as it gets no respect, and is usually hacked to the max. I don't have the heart to butcher mine... not that I haven't seen a ton of sweet custom XS650s on this site! I wish I knew the color code for your bike, as I would have my spare tank and side covers painted that color.
