I wouldn't use the first diagram, it was written by some one who has no idea what ignition the XS650 used.
In that diagram it says the XS650 has a CDI. Thats wrong, the XS650 never in all the years it was produced had a CDI. It used points up till 80 then used a TCI.
The CDI and TCI are two entirely different ignitions. Kinda like saying an automatic transmission is the same as a standard transmission.
Use the second diagram.
