I have used the tool that Mike's sells to remove mine. It works very well. I was concerned that a traditional puller (like in your picture) might damage the windings. I also wasn't sure that it would fit. Dave

The three leg puller will pull of just the outside of the rotor. Leaving the inner part on the engine. Spend the $10 and get the right puller. Maybe some one will loan you one.

I am not sure of the thread size, but you could get a bolt and screw it in and smack it with a hammer to loosen the rotor off the taper. But the best method is puchase a puller.

If you are going to replace the rotor, then get a rewound rotor from:

Custom Rewind
2014 Pratt Hwy.
Birmingham, AL
35214

Call first and talk to Gary. He has a loaner puller available. If the puller is included in the box with the rotor then there is no additional freight charge.

Gary, any experience using that type of puller (the claw) on a PMA rotor? I was contemplating it but am unsure.
it wouldn't work well most likely. the backside of the PMA rotor isn't square, it has a radius to it and the puller claws likely wouldn't grab it.

to reiterate earlier posts, get the right tool and don't be impatient :)
