benefits in 38's

Hey guys, have any of you swapped early year BS38 carburetors for a set from a later model?

Are there any benefits in doing that? I image that further on in their manufacturing that they tweaked them a little and I have a set from a 1975 that I could put on my XS1B if i spent the time to clean the up.

What do you think?

I don't think you will see anything better with the 75's. They might not run quite as well. At least on a dyno, In real life you probably won't see much difference. If you want to go with a later set, a 76-77 set will be a bit easier to keep in sync, they are the first of the linked carbs. The later BS34's might get you a bit more milage.

Have to use the XS1 boots or the air boxes won't line up so the linked carbs are out

34's are ok but 38's in the "D" model are much more fun IMO. OOP's your talking carbs...nevermind.

The 38 "D"s are over-rated IMO. Now, the 36s are fine for My needs, and age more gracefully.....
