I'm looking for the best way to connect forward controls. I have a set of TC Bros and I'm not quite sure how to configure the rear brake.

I used round bar from Home Depot. Just bent it where I wanted it to go.

Ok, so you have a linkage midway back to the rear wheel. That is where I was a bit confused, I thought there would be way too much flex going straight to the wheel not to mention some odd angles to get there.

Yup. Mine uses the stock pivot but there are many others. Tcbros has one and hughs handbuilt has a nice simple setup. Look at both of those and you will see how they work.
