I made a brake pivot out of my old one. Cut out the round tube and welded it up on another notched tube like HHB sells. Anyway my Question is I have about 1/4 inch of back and fourth play between the pedal and the end of the pivot shaft.
Is there supposed to be a spacer or shim in between or is it fine? I'll try to post a pic later.

Your brake pivot shaft moves 1/4 inch in and out of the tube it goes through. Is this right?
A small bit of play is ok but I think that maybe a bit much. I might add a washer on the inside.
I went out and tried to wiggle mine in and out. The disc brake I could wiggle the brake pedal a bit but the shaft it self I couldn't move. On the drum brake I couldn't wiggle the brake pedal or at the shaft. The return springs are probably stopping the movement.

Here's a pic. The spring should keep things in place but it may wander.
