I have an 83 Heritage special and I can't seem to find my original hose that attaches to my breather. Can someone tell me the correct size hose I need to use? It also seems that my breather pod(from 650 central) is a smaller diameter than the breather barb on on the engine. What do you use to attach the pod? Can I just use a small hose clamp on the pod filter?

I use a 3/8" inside diameter fuel line hose for my '81 breather hose. Because it's oil resistant. You need to stretch it by forcing needle nose pliers down it and lube the breather nipple to get it on the first time. 3/8 might be small enough to fit your pod thingy.

If you need 1/4" for your pod thing, those plastic fuel filters have inlet and outlet that go from 1/4 at the end to 3/8 closer to the filter, I do believe. Cut it off close to the filter and use it as an adapter, if you can't find a real adapter.
