That's clever. Looks more substantial than those wimpy Walton Tap Extractors
I used to use a product called "Tap-Out", which was basically a hydrocloric acid solution and putty with which to make a dam around the hole to contain the fluid. Worked great in stainless steel or aluminum.
I've generally found that when all else fails brute force and punches will work especially if it's a through hole
